Viewers for MS (.doc) and (.xls) files
The files that you are able to view or download from the section Course Material are in one of three formats "pdf", "doc" or "xls". To be able to read these files you will need the appropriate piece of software on your computer.
To read a "pdf" file you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded from here.
To read a "doc" file you will need to have one of the following installed or your computer: -
Microsoft Word (£)
or
Sun Microsystems OpenOffice (free) which can be downloaded from here
To read a "xls" file you will need to have one of the following installed or your computer: -
Microsoft Excel (£)
or
Sun Microsystems OpenOffice (free) which can be downloaded from here
Microsoft also produce viewers for ".doc" and ".xls" files but from what I have seen so far they are quite old and have to be updated as soon as they are installed.
Here is the location for downloading them. If the link no longer works then type "microsoft office viewers" into Google and go from there. You may have to dig about a bit to find what you want - Microsoft likes to keep moving things!
